Description: cpo offered these concertos in a new recording in 2007 but here's a budget-price reissue to compete with it (and to supplement it with a half-hour's worth of cello-piano works) Not being a part of the Russian nationalist school but rather more in the pan-European school of Rubinstein, Davidov wrote four concertos and these first two (1859 and 1863) are notable for their abundant melodic charm, cantabile slow movements and adherence to German Romanticism (a hint of Schumann appears here and there in the second concerto). Original 1995 Olympia release.
