Description: Much of Medtner's œuvre remains under-represented on disc except, possibly, for the sonatas. Milne has been a champion of the composer since the late 70s when he began the seven-disc cycle for CRD which was recently licensed and issued as a box-set by Brilliant Classics. Now, he fills in many of the gaps in that series with this generous (157:31) new set which covers the period from 1903 to 1940, from the youthful experimentation of the Stimmungsbilder to the bleak and anguished Elegies. 2 CDs.
