Description: In addition to stuff that's been recorded hundreds of times, there are four first recordings here: Elgar's violin/piano Chansons in arrangements made in 1939 by his friend and biographer, W.L. Webber's arrangement of a nocturnal part-song from 1950 and Goodall's, which is the most substantial: an 11-minute in memoriam piece (2008) for a teenage cellist, daughter of close family friends, who died the previous year. Poignantly lyrical with minimalist touches in its second half, it fits into the English pastoral tradition and is intended to be the last work recorded by Julian Lloyd Webber (who plans to conduct only from here on). English Chamber Orchestra; Julian Lloyd Webber (cello).
