Description: This Croatian composer’s solo piano works represent around half of everything she wrote in her short life and start at the age of 11 and end at 35. The youthful works are influenced by Chopin and Schumann and fall into the salon genre but from around the age of 18, Pejačević moves adventurously ahead, painting with Impressionist colors for the first time in Croatian music (op. 32a) and reflecting the tumultuous and tragic experiences of the war in the first sonata of 1915 (she was a nurse and orderly at a military hospital) and, in her final years, experimented harmonically with some audacity for the period. 2 CDs. Nataša Veljković (piano).
