Description: The next wave of Roentgen comes with works fairly widely separated - 1900, 1915, 1884 and 1925 in the order listed above - but which still remain firmly in the Schumann-Brahms continuum with the occasional suggestion of Grieg. Only the Sonata trilogica stands a bit apart, composed by a German living in a Holland occupied by his countrymen, there is lamentation it its first movement and elements of violence in its hard-edged scherzo while hints of Russian and Jewish music refer to its Byelorussian Jewish violinist dedicatee. Christoph Schickedanz (violin), Ernst Breidenbach (piano).
