Description: Levina’s youthful love of Scriabin’s late style is evident in the teenager’s brief first piano sonata from 1924-25 but romantic melody and lyrical attractiveness are the hallmarks of the two other sonatas here which come from 1952 and 1953 while the common Soviet interest in ethnic music informs the Bashkir and Jewish pieces. Maria Lettberg (piano), Katia Tchemberdji (four hands), Yury Revich (violin), Gernot Adrion (viola), Ringela Riemke (cello).
