Catalogue Number: 03V047
Format: SACD hybrid
Description: Daughter of a wealthy pharmacist and manufacturer and married to an artistically gifted army officer-engineer, Dalberg only undertook formal studies in 1909, first under Svendsen and then, after his death, with Nielsen, in 1909. She even orchestrated some of the latter’s Springtime in Funen. While the first two quartets (1915 and 1922) are indebted to Nielsen, the third of 1927 has the air of Kodály and Bartók about it, Dalberg being more harmonically experimental and enjoying writing polyphonically; it was only published after her death. Nordic String Quartet.
