Description: In addition to the virtuosic opera fantasies, this release offers a 24-minute concerto which is literally that - an early Romantic flute concerto where the piano assumes the orchestral part and virtuosity is not of the showy kind. To better achieve the virtuoso performance and technical skills required in all of these works, the flutists use instruments tuned down to low A, the better to simulate the flutes which the composer was writing for at the time.
