Catalogue Number: 04J023
Label: Zig-Zag Territories
Description: The major items of interest must be the remarkable, genre-bending Epitaphium in which the dead Charpentier's shade comes back for a dialogue with two friends in a part-serious, part-comic Latin cantata, and the short Orpheus cantata which features a figure of no interest to French audiences and features a solo violin which, at the time (early 1680s) was King of Instruments in Italy but not in France. Latin, French-English texts. Cyril Auvity (tenor), Edwin Crossley-Mercer (baritone), Il Seminario Musicale; Gérard Lesne (countertenor).
