Description: You knew Respighi had a lifelong interest in Baroque music but you may not have known that in 1908 he selected nine violin sonatas by Baroque composers and produced what he called "realizations for violin and piano". The violin part is unchanged but the figured bass, which was up to the continuo player to realize, is what gives these works a wafting of the early 20th century between the top and bottom lines of the music. The other three will follow on the next volume of this series. Ilona Then-Bergh (violin), Michael Schäfer (piano).
