Description: At the time this recording was originally released, none of these concertos had been recorded before. The short-lived ancestor of the clarinet, the chalumeau came in soprano, alto, tenor and bass sizes and all four are used in this program of late baroque and, in the case of Hoffmeister in 1780, Classical concertos. Jean-Claude Veilhan (chalumeaux), Eric Lorho (chalumeaux 2), Ensemble Mensa Sonora; Jean Maillet. 1996 release.
