Description: Last July we offered a recording of a mass created by Gatti out of movements from Haydn's The Creation. Here we have chamber music of unknown date but, since he spent the last 34 years of his life there, is likely from Salzburg. The sextet is like a symphonie concertante in five movements for English horn, violin, cello and bassoon; the longer (34 min.) Serenata has the "open air" quality of the genre although the presence of the string quintet gives it a hybrid quality. Calamus Ensemble.
