Description: In the first of our two consecutive transcriptions, pianist Weber offers not a "transcription" but a "development" of Franck's 1880 piano quartet into a symphony with obbligto piano. He uses a huge orchestra along the lines of Franck's symphony (104 players!) and reimagines the work considerably, giving part of the piano part to the orchestra, extending rhythmical elements and phrases and making other subtle alterations to produce an effective, atmospheric and often exciting... reimagining?... of Franck's big chamber work. Mathias Weber (piano), Marie Luise Neunecker (horn), Lübeck Philharmonic; Roman Brogli-Sacher. SACD hybrid.
