Description: A collection of lightish, attractive shavings from the workbench: four are orchestrations of piano suites (Kaleidoscope, a children's suite is almost light music while the Nature Poems are much more substantial) and the largest work is the latest - 1957's Concert Piece, written for Goossens' oboist brother and two harpist sisters. Like the pieces from the teens, 20s and 30s, it is generally light, lucid and transparent in the manner of much between-wars English music. Melbourne Symphony Orchestra; Andrew Davis.
