Description: Switezianka (1897) was finished just after Sadko and has an atmosphere of legend and the presence of an aquatic element characterized by the composer with all of his exceptional orchestrational ability. The other long work, Oleg (1899) sets a martial poem by Pushkin; After Homer (1901), inspired by the Odyssey, has a shimmering, luminous atmosphere and Alexis (1878) uses the music from a pilgrim's chorus in The Maid of Pskov. No texts.
