Description: Offered primarily for the resplendant and imposing Apparebit (1947), whose 7th-century text deals with events on the Day of Judgement; the brass sets an appropriate apocalyptic mood at the beginning and the descent to hell is pretty evocative as well. Also rarely recorded are the group of six Lieder which set four 16th century texts and two translations of Middle High German Minnelieder which date from 1923-25 and use a variety of approaches to highlight the special qualities of each poem.
