Description: Two sonatas by Swedish woman composers a generation apart in age yet written within a couple of years of each other in the mid-1880s. Aulin’s is a large-scale exercise in flowing Romantic expressivity whose four movements run for 31 minutes - the headstrong passion of youth. Netzel’s is a year oro two later and also in four movements but this 19-minute sonata is governed by a classical concision and its influences - Schumann, Chopin and Liszt - would make you guess it to be an earlier work by decades. Lucia Negro (piano).
