Description: Two discs of real rarities here (previously released in 1995 and 1996 on Russian Disc): the 1915 At the Reading, a 64-minute dramatic choral work with striking choral sonorities and vivid vocal parts with a triple choral fugue (this is Taneyev of course) and a big double chorus finale, and Kastalsky's Brotherly Prayer, from the same year, which is a 59-minute synthesis of the Orthodox choral tradition with western elements and which is equally serious, profound and moving. 4 CDs. USSR Symphony Orchestra; Evgeni Svetlanov.
