Description: Donberger was a student of Porpora and became one of the leading composers in Austria between Fux and Haydn. He wrote 92 masses and this one, probably from 1759, unites solid counterpoint with diversified melody and expressive harmony. Scheibl's ten-minute harpsichord concerto pioneers the use of such works in the context of a liturgical service andd thus is performed here on a positive organ. Zechner's five-minute strophic aria in German is also typical of pieces which would be inserted into a mass service. German texts. Ibolya Verebics (soprano), Sibylle Kamphues (alto), Christoph Wittmann (tenor), Yuli Alexandrovich Chomenko (bass), Freiburger Domkapelle, Concilium Musicum Wien; Paul Angerer.
