ANTONÍN VRANICKY (1761-1820): String Quintet in E Flat, Op. 8/3, String Sextet in G.

Description: Vranicky's Op. 8 (c.1800) was for the unusual combination of one violin and pairs of violas and cellos so, besides the usual permutations of lead and accompaniment he also had uncommon sonorites available to exploit. The sextet (pairs of each instrument) was also unusual for its time as was the adagio beginning for each work's allegretto finale of folk-like character. Ensemble Cordia.
