Description: A Swede, Uddén first studied with compatriot Melcher Melchers before spending two yeears at the Paris Conservatory and as a private student of Tournamire, returning home in 1928. Fauré, Debussy and Ravel are the major influences in the two quartets from 1940 and 1955 although each has a moment of Bartokian dissonance which stand out from otherwise melodic and attractively lyrical material while the finale of the 1928 trio is the only place you’ll find references to Swedish folk music. French-English texts. Charlotte Hellekant (mezzo), Uppsala Chamber Soloists.
