Description: Tveitt’s 16-minute piece from 1945 evokes the wind-created sounds of its title “instrument” with a very Ravelian influence at times and the mood of the music rages from calm to stormy. Hurum’s five-piece suite dates from 1920 and is pure Romantic tone-painting (the titles are “In the Enchanted Garden”, “The Princess is Playing with the Golden Apples”, “The Three Trolls”, “It is Snowing and Snowing”, “Goblin Party” and “The Daughters of the Northern Light”. The massive and heroic Sinding sonata of 1909 continues to make one wonder why there are only two other recordings of it in the catalog today. Christian Grøvle (piano).
