Description: A Pierre, written for Boulez' 60th birthday, is pure texture-music, fluid, eschewing solid forms in favor of a void of 'blue silence', actually aswarm with countless swimming motes of sound, generated from the breath-sounds and subtle tones of just two contrabass wind instruments and the myriad transformative effects available to a composer with a complete understanding of the potential of electronic composition. The beautiful and melancholy Polish Diary sets texts by various authors on the subjects of oppression and the hope of freedom, for the unusual and ethereal medium of four female voices in an aura or veil of live electronic texture, fleetingly punctuated by instrumental sounds. Post-Prae-Ludium vastly extends the sound of the tuba - itself played with a wide variety of extended techniques - through interaction with multiply layered electronic transformation, to produce a sequence of undulating, liquid effects which gradually increase in density before ultimately fading away to nothing.
