Description: It's the second new recording in three months of the uneven 1853 choral ballad, which is better in its darker parts than its bright finale but a check of the current catalogue shows only two other recordings of the not in the least gloomy but heartfelt Requiem of 1852, while the ten-minute Nachtlied of 1849, one of the outstanding choral-orchestral works of the period, is seemingly available on CD only here.
