Description: Unlike the accompaniments to Bach's solo violin sonatas, Schumann's to the solo cello sonatas were never published and considered lost (or destroyed by Clara) until Joachim Draheim found in 1981 in the Palatinate State Library a copy of the Third Sonata in the hand of a German cellist who copied it (from what source we don't know) in 1863. The accompaniment is no different from those for the violin works in its intention of providing "harmonic support" and occasionally reinforcing hidden melodic lines. Martin Ostertag (cello), Kalle Randalu (piano).
