Description: Godowsky put his unparalleled knowledge of his instrument at the service of picture-painting in what has to be one of the most evocative musical travelogues ever. These pieces are not primarily concerned with technique; they paint the landscape that so impressed the composer on his travels in the 1920s in vivid, glowing colors. We offered a recording of this on Pro Piano in August 2000 but that is out of print, making this new one the only currently available recording. Carl Petersson (piano).
