Description: Except for Searle's 4:37 Vigil, freely expressive tribute to French Resistance fighters from 1940-44, and much in the same mood as Bridge's Lament, much of this recital isn't really all that unusual as repertoire anymore but the program, centered around music inspired by war (the Easter Rising, of course, in Bax's case), is so compelling and the notes are so uncommonly good, that I just had to offer it.
