Description: A divertimento-like spirit, bubbling with joy and energy informs the outer movements of the 1927 concerto, surrounding an exquisitely melodic Romanza. The later (1936-37) Second is a more Romantic work, conceived on a bigger scale, with more conventionally virtuosic piano vs. orchestra dynamics and with a wider emotional palette. First performance and first recording of the 16-minute suite, an apparently stand-alone work not connected with a staged production.
