Description: This rare work had two recordings in 1997, apparently their first ever, one on Koch International Classics and one as part of the massive DG Beethoven Edition. It was written for the 1814 Congress of Vienna and has a bombastic text glorifying the royal heads of Europe in attendance. It will make you think of the finale of the Ninth Symphony mostly because the Choral Fantasia makes you think of it and Augenblick is almost halfway between those two works chronologically. Claire Rutter (soprano), Matilde Wallevik (mezzo), Peter Hoare (tenor), Stephen Gadd (baritone), Westminster Boys' Choir, City of London Choir, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra; Hilary Davan Wetton.
