Description: Chaminade's energetic and passionate trio with a lovely and lyrical slow movement, dating from 1887, has appeared on disc before (although this is currently the only recording of it available), making the Lenormand the real find. Information about him is hard to find, mostly because his son was a famous playwright and seems to have totally eclipsed his father, even in French-only sources, but he apparently composed quite a bit and founded a society devoted to popularizing art songs of all countries outside of their own countries of origin. This four-movement trio was published in Germany in 1893 and is full of appealing Romantic melody and lyricism with a scherzo and finale which both have a galloping, questing nature. Trio Chausson.
