Description: Renowned as one of the foremost organ virtuosi and teachers of his time, Fährmann's post-war reputation was submerged not only because of the conservative style of his music but because all of the published music's printing plates were destroyed in a bombing raid on Leipzig in Dec. 1943 which also killed the publisher and his entire family. But contemporaries compared him to Reger and to a "Richard Strauss of the organ", so this is self-recommending to collectors of late Romantic German organ music. Dietrich von Knebel (Jehmlich organ of Kreuzkirch, Dresden).
