Description: This latest volume from Katsaris' own label brings us what, at the time, was one of the most controversial finishes to this piano competition when Katsaris was placed ninth. The expressions of audience discontent were remarkable. The Rachmaninov had been issued shortly afterward by DG but, of course, we offer this for the bright, spiky, Prokofievian concerto by Leduc, a 20-minute piece which was required of all competitors. Cyprien Katsaris (piano), National Orchestra of Belgium; René Defossez (Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition Finals, May 31, 1972).
