Description: Before you start howling about the Sibelius being the coupling, stop and realize how lucky you are to have the Vladigerov on CD at all! Composed in 1920, it's a 32-minute work founded in late Romanticism, with echoes of both Mahler and Richard Strauss, but it also enters the realms of Szymanowskian exotic ecstasy while, very ahead of its time, it also has much of the luxurious orchestration one associates with Korngold and his Hollywood fellows and successors. There's also a second CD at no extra cost whose purpose will mystify you when you read about it in the notes. Svetlin Roussev (violin), Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra; Emil Tabakov.
