Description: Only film-score specialists and hardcore VW  fans will know the 1947 film from whose score Vaughan Williams quarried the materials for his Sinfonia Antartica, so this release is especially exciting for them but all collectors of VW’s music should be attracted to this also. Transcribed and edited from original manuscripts by the recording’s conductor, this release offers 32 minutes (21 of the 41 cues) of first recordings (total timing is 79:48). Particulary interesting note from Yates as well as longer notes by Lewis Foreman.
