Description: In his original note for this release, Malcolm MacDonald suggests that Mayerl no more deserved the label of “light music” purveyor than Percy Grainger or Lord Berners and that he was a “spontaneous melodist” and a “genuine lyricist”, evoking early jazz but also blending in other musical idioms.
