Description: Until DG’s recent high-profile release of 1946’s Shostakovichian, bright and brittle No. 2, the only available recording was a 1999 Olympia with a substandard Swedish orchestra while the neo-baroque, five-movement No. 7 (1964) also has only two competitors, an archival Melodiya and a 2010 Chandos.
