Description: A second volume of works for chamber orchestra brings us the 1960 Second which may have a veiled program of nostalgia for Vainberg's Polish roots; the 1992 Fourth was the composer's last completed work, notable for its predominantly gentle and elegiac tone with a particularly beautiful last movement which fines away into silence. The flute concerto of 1987 has an uncommonly relaxed and pastoral first movement, a much more melancholy second and an ethnically-tinged dance-like finale. 2 CDs.
