FRANZ KROMMER (1759-1831): String Quartets in F, Op. 19/2, in D Minor, Op. 74/3 and in A Minor, Op. 103/3.
Catalogue Number: 07L045
Description: Covering a 20-year expanse of his career (c.1800-1821), these quartets show Krommer to have learned not only from Haydn and Mozart but from Beethoven as well with the first and the latter present in his often intensive motivic work. But the touches of fun and humor are all Haydn. This new period instrument quartet came out of Concerto Köln and may be the only quartet named after a Belgian chocolatier. Marcolini Quartet.
