Description: Hubay's 1884 concerto was only orchestrated as to its first movement and this was later published as a Morceau de concert. Lajos Huszár (b.1948) orchestrated the remaining two movements for this recording, giving us a 33-minute concerto for a still rather neglected instrument. Of the couplings, three were originally for viola, two could be played on either violin or viola and the other four were edited for viola by Hubay (1) and three other arrangers (including, surprisingly, Edwin H. Lemare, the organist!). Péter Bársony (viola), Márta Gulyás (piano).
