Description: Those of you who bought an out-of-print Brüll disc from us on this label three years ago, note that everything here is recorded brand new (Macbeth and all of the concerto - the previous issue only contained its second movement)! You'll find the Brüll to be a top-notch Romantic Violin Concerto (all caps deserved) with a dramatic minor-key first movement followed by the meltingly gorgeous slow movement already glimpsed those years ago and a dance-like rondo finale (the original autograph, a copyists' copy and a violin/piano version were edited for this performance by the conductor - the concerto was never published!) while the 27-minute Jadassohn is a Classical Serenade owing much in its spirit and attitude to Mendelssohn - an Intrata, Notturno, Menuetto and Tarantella finale, every note of which will brighten your mood. Ilya Hoffman (violin), Rebecca Hall (flute), Malta Philharmonic Orchestra; Michael Laus.
