IGNAZ PLEYEL (1757-1831): Prussian Quartets Nos. 4-6, Benton 334-336.
Catalogue Number: 07O036
Reference: 777 551-2
Description: First issued in 1787, some editions of these quartets bear a dedication to Frederick the Great, hence their title. They are in Pleyel's typical style - three movements (except for No. 6 which has only two), concertante roles for all four players, simple textures and a concentration on long, lyrical lines. In other words, the opposite of his teacher Haydn's motivic, thematic construction. Second volume; previous release three years ago (06J039). Pleyel Quartet Köln.
