Description: In 1989, Davis painstakingly reconstructed Chaplin's score for this 1931 film for the purpose of staging performances live with rescreenings of the movie. The was made the more difficult by his discovery that many adjustments and simplifications had been made during the long and arduous recording and synchronization process in the final months before the film was released. The result is 53 minutes of Charlie's own music (except for La Violetera mentioned above) which will come as a revelation for collectors of film music (the seven-minute finale is Puccinian in its emotional Romanticism) who missed this the first time 16 years ago. The City Lights Orchestra; Carl Davis. Original 1996 Silva Screen release.
