Description: World Premiere Recording of the suite (you'll recall the period-instrument recording of the 1897 concerto, which encompasses both Franckian gravity and Saint-Saëns' vivacity, from last July - 07O003, while the Concerto-capriccioso, a display-piece on the order of the Konzertstück genre, appeared on Mirare in November of 2011 - 11N004), a late work from 1917 (each of these pieces is 20 years later than its predecessor, a tribute to Dubois' fecundity!). In four movements lasting only 21 minutes, it is a relaxed, intentionally smaller-scale composition than its disc-mates with each movement melodically memorable, especially the ardently Romantic Andante while the finale's energy couldn't possibly be that of an 80-year-old. Could it? Cédric Tiberghien (piano), BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra; Andrew Manze.
