Description: This was perhaps intended to be a first volume since it contains Koechlin's early period songs (1890-1909) but no further volume was recorded. Except for a group of Rondels - clear, precise and playful - the majority of these songs are concerned with drama or metaphysical meditations. The piano parts of this majority suggest an orchestra in their density (and Koechlin did later orchestrate many of his songs). French texts. Michèle Command (soprano), Christophe Durrant (piano). 1998 release.
