Description: This oratorio’s title character is tenth century English whose devotion to monastic life mirrors certain events in 1673 Modena - thus this commission for Stradella. The saint engages in mostly light and exuberant exchanges with the figures “Nobility”, “Humility”, “Grandeur”, “Beauty” and “Sense”. Italian-English texts.
