Description: 29 of the 71 minutes of music on this disc did not appear on the 1985 BIS “Complete” CD, either because it hadn’t been written yet or for unknown other reasons. Most everything has a hard-edged neo-classical quality but there is some colorful exoticism in the suite of five pieces of ballet music for a work based on Mika Waldari’s famous novel “The Egyptian”. Best notes on the composer yet and there’s also a memoir by Toccata’s founder titled “Drinking with Einar Englund: A Personal Reminiscence”. Laura Mikkola (piano).
