Description: Offered because there are fewer recordings of the MacDowell New England Idyls (3) than of the Sessions (7!) and the Reinagle is still practically unknown (it’s in the neighborhood of CPE Bach). And the notes give an excellent historical overview of 19th century American music history from a refreshing outsider’s perspective. Ulrich Roman Murtfeld (piano).
