Description: A brilliant, prize-winning pianist who was just beginning to devote considerable time to composition when war broke out, this Flemish artist was mortally wounded in battle with the Germans in November of 1914. Here are his complete extant works: 43 minutes of piano works in late Romantic style, adopting the harmonic complexity and dissonances then popular among composers from Reger to Debussy; four songs lasting 14 minutes in French mélodie-mode and 21 minutes of organ works in the Franco-Belgian school in which he shows the complete grasp of the instrument which comes from having a professional organist for a father and having acted as church organist often himself. French-English texts. Hans Ryckelynck (piano), Ignace Michiels (organ), Hilde Coppé (soprano), Werner van Mechelen (baritone).
