Description: Witt's romantic-leaning septet of 1817 has been recorded before but the remaining works here are first recordings (and, yes, Dieter Klöcker is still the clarinettist; the recordings were made in 2009). The horn and bassoon quartets look backward to the late Classical divertimento while the flute quintet was written by one of Witt's aristocratic commissioners - much of Witt's wind ensemble music after 1825 was for Carl Friedrich who himself has a melodic gift and a taste for the new romanticism.
