Description: No. 7 is actually an early work (1880) whose classicism recalls Beethoven and the composer's teacher Tchaikovsky and their common idol, Mozart. No. 5, from 1903, is concise, simple and transparent (Taneyev himself called it Quartettino), melodically appealing, now energetic and dramatic, now playful and exuberant. Carpe Diem String Quartet.
